Mentally Disabled Parents (MDP)

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

I have been wondering about this before. Mentally disabled (MD) that are allowed to have children. I understand there are different levels of being mentally disabled, but still.
A (dutch only) study published by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports points out that a majority of mentaly disabled parents not come up to the mark for raising children properly.
The biggest part of children with MD parents are neglected physical and/or mentally and will have a life in foster homes and in worst cases children’s homes. 2/3rd of them will have problems in their personal development.

In most or at least many cases you know these people have a lack of social knowledge. They have rights too, but so have their children. Knowingly bringing children to this world by mentally disabled is cruel, I think.
So who has the strongest rights?

Autobahn

Yesterday, we could have had a party for the anniversary of the German ‘Autobahn‘.
On may 19th 1935 Adolf Hitler opened the first parst of it, between Frankfurt and Darmstadt.
They were used to get his wartroops and machines fast from place to place. Not nice.
The Allied Forces used them to get through Germany fast… Very nice. (otherwise I would have spoken German as mother tongue now ;) )
Well, I like them too. You can drive quite fast on them… Just to try… ;)

Pianoman (P)

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

On April 7th police found this man in Kent (a part of the UK). He does not speak and suffers from amnesia, but when he sees a piano he lightens up and wants to play it. Its seems he has the talent of a virtuoso.
The strange thing is the man was in a expensive black dinner suit, was soaking wet and the designers labels had been ripped out when they found him, ‘The Piano Man.’
He played the piano for several hours in the hospital where he was brought, until he collapsed.

Till today (May, 16th) no one seems to know who the man is.
The National Missing Persons Helpline and Police are still trying to find out who the man is.

This is so strange and for sure this guy suffered a deep traumatic experience.

We can do so much in science, but are still not able to craw into the mind of person just to find out who he is.

Where did we see this before? But man, this is so REAL (and sad).

UPDATE: According to this newsstory the man has been identified, but the police still wants real evidence, like pictures or something concrete to identify him.

There has been made a movie already about this theme according to BBC News

Dove for Peace

I am not a peace dreamer…Nope… Never have been…
But sometimes I do dream that there will be peace all over the world

I have been in Israel several times. I liked it there very much… And I am so sure most people want real peace.
It could be such a great region, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and so on…
Libanon was called something like the Côte d’Azur of the Middle East, people say. With boulevards, palmtrees and good Middle Eastern food…

I will ‘pray’ for the day to come that there will be PEACE!! [could you please start at home and stop brainwashing your children (with hatred)?!] You know who I mean!!

Happy Meal in Japanese

Please, sing along… NOT!!
At about 10.000 (!) employees of a Vietnamese supplier of McDonald’s Happy Meals toys went back to work after a two day strike. They protested against humiliation and bad treatment by their supervisors, not being allowed to visit the toilet more then twice a day, working 12 hours a day, no drinking water avaiblabe, and so on.

There is more to say about Happy Meals. Dan Ackman, Senior Columnist at Forbes.com says it in quite strong words:
‘Except for the fact that kids seem to love it, it’s hard to find a happy story about the McDonald’s Happy Meal. The rap on Happy Meals is that kids are lured by the toys into eating unhealthy foods. On the other hand, kids don’t drive themselves to McDonald’s–parents do–and if the kids didn’t like the food, it’s unlikely a little plastic toy would turn the tide in their demands.’

Of course McDonald’s says nothing is wrong and if there was something wrong, everything is solved now…

Oh Happy Meal…Oh Happy Meal…

Burn Da Books! (BB)

Burn Da Books
It always starts with stricking non desired passages in books. The next step is burning them… Where did we see this before… :(
A coorperation of chistian libraries is advising christian publishers to draft a code to oppose against cursing and profound language in new books.
Do I like cursing and strong language? Oh no, I really don’t. ( and I am from a city that is known here for its strong and literary curses) It’s a part of life. ;)
But seriously, I don’t! But I am against libraries telling writers and publishers what to write and publish. This is the world upside down.
‘In some books are almost curses that could have been translated in a decent way’, the story tells…
