And not only do some pilots suck, but so do some air traffic controllers. And we’re not talking sexual things here.

I know I am repeating what I said earlier, but now I saw that I am not alone with my thoughts.

IATA and it’s European counterpart JAA say that pilots that can’t or refuse to speak English are a serious threat for flight security.
Dutch pilots are really concerned about the ongoing confusion in the air.

A European survey pointed out that in 23% (!) of the incidents are communication related. Recent figures tell that 31,5% of air traffic controllers and 10,2% of the pilots speak the English language NOT fair enough to do their job right and safe.

“Dutch air traffic controllers do always speak English, even when they are speaking with Dutch pilots.”
