Did you ever try to get past a toy shop with a child at your side?

I know this has always been difficult, but now I see it is getting more difficult then the power of the television is growing and growing.

Toys we never saw before are pointed at in the toys shop as being the newest and coolest thing ever [for this week anyhow].
Then you must decide on the spot whether it is worth the money [ most of the time it isn't], if the kid has enough money for it and if not, how to tell your kid.

Modern life isn’t easy as it seems…

Masses of people have gotten into Google Earth.

The basic version is free downloadable at earth.google.com [win/mac only]. For that you will have a very nice (not too heavy) program with loads of possibilities around satellite maps of every spot on earth. There are restrictions on resolution for some hotspots, like Israel, but the program is still absolutely great.

Greatest fun about it, is the fact that people can do tricks with the program, by making (groups of) waypoints or keyholes, collections of places with a specific interest. These points are put into a downloadable file and can be projected as a layer on the the satellite photo formed globe.

History is know for its tendency to repeat itself. Again this is the case.

But what is driving it?! Yes, PORN!

I am talking techno history here, but hey, nothing new…

One of the (self declared?) biggest adult movies studios, Digital Playground, has decided what the next kind of technology will be for them. They are are choosing Blue-Ray.

But why?

As know the coming Sony Playstation 3 will have Blue Ray on board and this is what DP is hitting on. The sale of porn will be faster growing with an device that is this populair.

We have seen this before. VC2000 and BetaMax and lost the battle for most populair video system. Not because they were bad systems. But VHS was the system that had the largest collection of porn on it.

So we’re not driven by best technology, but by PORN!

Okay, this is old news, but new news to me. I missed it before.

Nintendo does not want to get its Pokemon character linked to a gene that is said to cause cancer. It puts legal pressure to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York to change its funny name for the gene into something else.

I know that cancer is something very serious, but Nintendo shows an absolute lack of sense of humour. Secondly I think it is an absolute honour giving the name of something this stupid, like a comic game character – like Pokemon, to something this important.

But who am I?!
