Only one week from now I will be sitting on a bench at the seaside of Tel Aviv. The weather (no news anymore) looks very promising. :-D

Goal of this stay in Israel is a wonderful vacation and next to that to come back with a few great series of photographs.

For that reason I bought myself the greatest tripod and tripod head I could find for a decent amount of money. I have been buying tripod the last years, but all were not that expensive. In fact, not at all… That’s also why I bought more tripods. Never very satisfied about it. Not stable enough for portrait pictures, parts falling off or is just just wobbly.

Not this time. Advised by a fellow photographer (that’s you, Johan ;) ) I bought the Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod with the 804RC2 head…

Oh my G_d… This is finally a piece of equipment…

(sturdy, but extremely flexible – you can’t imagine, seeying it here standing just there)

Watching the breaking news at BBC World about the terrorist attack at a yeshiva in Jerusalem right now. The title is ‘ISRAEL VIOLENCE: 9 people killed including attacker”.

For me it is interesting to see that the terrorist is counted in in the amount of killed people. Next to that the header “Israel violence” gives me a biased taste. Am I wrong?

In another report there is an interview with a certain Jerry Lewis. The interviewer states that the students at the yeshiva are learning about zionism. He is corrected by this Jerry Lewis, who says: “No, there are learning about judaism. They are reading scriptures and discussing them”.

There are no critical words about Gaza, where people are celebrating the newest killing of innocent religious students, by shooting in the air and kissing the soil.

The first report I saw, was followed by a commercial of World Travel & Tourism Council in Dubai 20-22 april 2008. Is this lack of critical questions caused by this?

It is interesting and extremely sad, but not new, to see that the Dutch press is giving an biased view on the Israeli raids, just like the press in most other countries, the UK for instance.

An important example is seen here. NOS Teletekst (an extra signal to the television signal) is one of the major newssources of the Dutch. The NOS is know as a bastion of lefties and they show it again.

The story is that the bad Israelis did some air strikes on targets in Gaza, like they did last wednesday.

The last paragraph is a kind of “Oh yes, didn’t I tell you? Oh, sorry for that!”: |Yes, there were 100 rockets fired to the city of Sderot, close to Gaza. Aren’t they used to it now?

I can tell you that I will never get use to a biased press.

I have never been a player of games or roleplays, I have to be honest. But I am at home now. Sick…

There is so much talk about Second Life (SL), a virtual world where you can really live your second life. It sounds crazy and it is. But now I know that hearing about it is quite different from being there and talk to other people around there.

Just like in the new world commerce is taking over everywhere, so does it in SL. Shops are popping out of the ground everywhere. But there are virtual nightclubs, shops with weapons, a virtual synagogue and a virtual dojo (for Japanse martial arts) and even a virtual Western Wall (HaKotel) for instance.
But why has the OBA (Public Libary Amsterdam) to be there, and the City Of The Hague?!

It is fun to look around and to be there for one (maybe two) time(s), but I don’t think this is my world. I’ll keep to my own old First Life, I mean people of flesh and blood…

Now he has published a book that has the title: Peace Not Apartheid. As I heard the title I frowned my eyebrows. After hearing parts from the book I made a comparison with some high rank dutch politicians (former prime minister Van Agt for instance) that have formed a form of latent anti-Semitism or anti-Zionism, like Jimbo does. It is at least biased, but probably worse.

There are so many lies in the book: Page 62: When I met with Yasir Arafat in 1990, he stated, “The PLO has never advocated the annihilation of Israel. The Zionists started the ‘drive the Jews into the sea’ slogan and attributed it to the PLO.

I was drawn to this lie: We all KNOW by fact that this is not the truth!

I am not going into it deeply because others do that much better that I could ever do. And next to that I must be honest that I did not read the book. But also in this case: others did the (good) job!

Read on at CAMERA. They made a roundup of all criticism on Jimbo.

Something related: Jimmy Carter Center gets Arab money. And I mean loads of it…

And a strong voice from Kenneth Stein here
Another article on Aish

The French have always been cowards…

Now they have the loudest voice about Lebanon-Israel. Not because they want to bring peace into the region. They want to show the Arab world that they are still on their side. They want tho lead the mission.

They have to, because they have longtime historical tires to the Arab world (a lot of countries in the region have French as first or second language), but maybe most important they have a realy large Arab-Islamic population in France and they had agressive riots there.

I took about weeks before they could decide whether they would send troups as a part of the UN force, or not. And they did. 200 in count! Meanwhile a few more. This is quite substantial France!

Protected by the Village People!

Now they are camping in Lebanon, it seems.
To my knowledge – and I am not that much into it lately – this is the first time that Amnesty is speaking out on violence with Israeli civilians as a goal.

It is conspicuous that you don’t hear much in the English language press about the manipulated, staged and just fraudulent pictures of the Lebanon-Israel conflict, I thought, after reading about a Reuters photographer, while there is a vivid discussion in The Netherlands on this subject.

But I was wrong. I just had to dig a little deeper. As it seems that the big news agencies, papers are just looking the other way, a lot of very observant others are watching the proces closely.
The last few days there are a detected a few fraudulent cases, but I am sure it is only the tip of the iceberg.

The news of CNN and BCC World seems biased the same way, or I maybe am just watching at the wrong times.

Likewise I am 1000% sure it is the same with the writing press, but there are just no pictures as a proof….

What is happening in the Middle East is extremely tragic for both sides. But to my opinion the Palestinians, Arabs or Muslims seem not to have any problem to sacrifice their people, and for all their children.

Former Israel Prime Minister Golda Meir said it quite striking a few times:

On peace, she said in 1957, before the National Press Club in Washington:

Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.

In a similar vein, she would say:

Peace will come when an Arab leader is courageous enough to wish it.

At a 1969 press conference in London, she added:

When peace comes we will perhaps in time be able to forgive the Arabs for killing our sons, but it will be harder for us to forgive them for having forced us to kill their sons.

And on another occasion:

I am convinced, she also said, that peace will come to Israel and its neighbors because the tens of millions of Arabs need peace just as much as we do. An Arab mother who loses a son in battle weeps as bitterly as any Israeli mother.

I’m affraid I can’t add a word…
